So, I’m published!

The new year has rolled around, and wouldn’t you know what happened right at the tail-end of 2011 – I’m now a published author! That’s right; as of 30th January my debut short story, Budapest Will Burn, has been available from Nevermet Press for your preusal and comment. Check it out – cover art and everything!

My unending thanks to Hayley “Faelourn” Millward for this striking piece of artwork.

It will be appearing in the Stories in the Ether Vol. 3 ebook in January (priced $2.99 I believe – there will be links when it is published) and then in the Stories in the Ether print anthology in late summer 2012. I highly recommend you check out Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 of the Stories in the Ether, and browse the other stories on Nevermet’s website (free stories!), and while you are there, feel free to comment on Budapest Will Burn – I am eager to hear your thoughts.

So, I have my first publishing credit. That is a pretty big milestone, and I’m not ashamed to say that I air-punched and hooted like an eejit when I found that email waiting for me. However, it is the first milestone on a long and probably thorny path, and to bray and brag about it will only slow my progress on it. By all means comment here on over at Nevermet and let me know what you think, good and bad, but let me say that I hope you enjoy the story. It has been through a dozen and more iterations, and has changed extensively since I first thought of the idea for an origin story for young Anne-Cathleen (who we shall be seeing more of, I hope, in the stories yet to come). I am very proud of Budapest Will Burn, and it represents the best damn swing I could take at it. But now it is time to move on to the Next Big Thing. What will that be? I don’t know, but stick around in the weeks and months to come and we’ll find out together.

Peace out, y’all!
