“You don’t become great by trying to be great…”
“…You become great by wanting to do something, and then doing it so hard that you become great in the process.”
I don’t actually have much to say today, I just wanted to get that quote immortalised on here. Its something that I come back to repeatedly, to touch base mentally with something to keep me on track. Its not that I have a burning desire to be considered “one of the greats”, although of course it would be nice (its just that such a goal would be more than a little hubristic at the moment). This thought is more to keep me going, keep me driving, towards my own personal goals – greatness might come in the course of achieving them, but we’ll never know if we don’t try.
Erm, that’s it for today. I am still knocking away at my second short story submission, which I am hoping to send off on Wednesday. Harbinger is ready to go, I think – one more read-over this evening and I suspect it will be sent off. I have to go over last year’s submission to remember how to format the email and such – something which Black Library leaves up to the individual. There are a number of cool things on the web today, according to Twitter, but my eye was caught by the Clock in the Mountain – a project to construct a 200-foot tall clock that will keep time for the next 10,000 years. Now if THAT isn’t a project deserving of the “great” label, I truly don’t know what is.
